I am often asked how much I charge for my quilts. Because each quilt is made to order, and dimensions may differ from quilt to quilt, it hasn't been easy to come up with an answer! So, as a general "rule of thumb" I've decided to charge $.04 per square inch. That's for what I do. If the quilt is too large, I'll send it out to be quilted after it's pieced together, and if I do that, then the cost of the quilting is added on. That might vary, and because long-arm quilters are usually backed up, the finishing of your quilt may take a while. Now, if you want your large quilt tied instead of quilted, there's no extra charge for that.

Here's the math: Length x width = square inches x $.04 = price rounded to the next highest number. (Plus the cost of quilting, for large quilts. I usually do baby quilts and crib quilts myself.)

What follows are some general approximate prices, but remember that your quilt may be trifle more or a trifle less:

Jasper on Quilt

I made this quilt for my dogs. It measures about 30"x38". I just love all the novelty fabrics! I put extra batting in so it would be nice and puffy and comfortable for them. They love it!!!

Half Square Mambo - For Bob and Joan

This quilt is called Half Square Mambo, and is a good full-size quilt. The body of the quilt is made from half-square triangles (hence the name), and was surprisingly easy to do, considering how stunning it turned out. It's big enough for a full-size bed, and is being given to our good friends Bob and Joan.

Plan B Fall Quilt

Ok, I confess. I had originally planned something different for this fabric, but it just didn't work out the way I'd planned. Well, you know what they say...when life hands you scraps, make a quilt! So, this is "Plan B," but I think it turned out okay anyway. It's a nice lap size; perfect for sitting in the recliner on a cold winter's evening. I should know....it's 20 degrees out tonight!

Candle at the Crossroads

This quilt is named "Candle at the Crossroads." It is a basic log cabin pattern, with the squares positioned to show the cross. The yellow center of a log cabin quilt signifies a candle in the window and was used in the Underground Railroad to show that this was a safe house. This quilt covers a twin size bed nicely. I gave it to Paula to give to her daughter's in-laws as a going-away present.

Prayer Quilt. Quilt measures 30 inches by 40 inches. The leaves on the green fabric remind us that He will never leave us nor forsake us. The vines in the red and white fabric remind us that He is the vine and we are the branches. The pillow effect of the quilting reminds us of God's comfort. The quilt has two layers of thick batting throughout, except for four layers of batting at the foot of the cross for one's knees, as this quilt is designed to be used on the floor as you kneel in prayer before God. Green is the color of growth and renewal. White is for purity, hope and strength, and red is for the saving blood of our Savior, Jesus Christ. At the center of the quilt is a gold heart, to remind us that we are always in His heart. Commissioned by Lydia; designed and crafted with prayer by me.

About my Quilts

HANDMAIDEN QUILTS is a small ministry dedicated to crafting quality quilts for the glory of God. All quilts are personally crafted by me. I machine piece and either machine or hand quilt. Large quilts tend to be "tied" as comforters.
I specialize in Prayer Quilts, lap quilts, baby quilts, quilted bedding for dogs and cats, and quilts for those in wheelchairs.
My quilts tend to be bright and cheerful, and as I quilt I pray for the preson or animal that will be receiving the quilt. Quilts are usually 100% cotton with a polyester batting (or filling) and are fully machine washable and dryable.
Quilting is a gift God has given me and it is only proper that I give HIM the glory.
Please note: Handmaiden Quilts is more about ministry than money. I try to keep my prices low so that anyone who wants a quilt can have one. My sincere desire is to share the love of God with others, and to honor with great gratitude the joy and peace He has brought to my life.
A word about Prayer Quilts. While many quilts are made with prayer and given to those in need, these Prayer Quilts are different. A Prayer Quilt measures approximately 30" by 40" and is designed to be used on the floor as you kneel in prayer before the Lord. Extra padding is placed at knee-level, so that you can more fully concentrate on God.
Each Prayer Quilt is crafted with loving care and each quilt is prayed over during its creation. I try to match the quilt with the person who will be receiving it, so the following information about the intended recipient would be helpful: Name, age and gender. Favorite colors, interests and hobbies. Specific prayer requests.
I'll tell you right off the top that my quilts are probably not perfect. If you want perfect you can get a perfectly nice quilt at Wal-Mart. But if you want a quilt that is one-of-a-kind, well-made, and been prayed over by an Ordained Minister (yes, I'm a minister, too), then you've come to the right place. I make it a point to never make the same quilt twice. You can be sure that if I made it, I've never made another one exactly like it.
